The Tom Green County Appraisal District (Tom Green CAD) attempts to: 1) identify all real and personal property, and 2) then value each parcel. Their primary mission is to divide the property taxes paid to entities in the county as accurately and equitably as possible. Tom Green County Appraisal District had 70,191 tax parcels in 2021 and 11 appraisers to value them and conduct tax protest hearings. That works out to 6,381 tax parcels per appraiser.
